While we’re all for the #selfcare movement, we wanted to make a show that takes off the (face)mask and dives deep into real, messy, heartbreaking, and hilarious stories around mental illness. Showcasing six new plays from young playwrights ready to break through stigma, BRAINFOOD asks big questions, but is not about finding answers. It’s about having a conversation, and we’ve got room at the table.

Galactic Saloon Party at Dobbin St
THURSDAY, OCTOBER 25th, 2018
6 - 9 pm
Lauren from Electric Celebrations mixed space-age futuristic and vintage Western influences into her design for The Knot Pro New York Mixer in Brooklyn at Dobbin St. The Galactic Saloon's style was inspired by a range of influences from '70s Retrofuturism to Westworld.
The event environment evoked the mystical and mysterious nature associated with both deep space and the depths of the desert. We loved the color palette consisting of deep galactic blues, supernova pink and indigo, white and metallic silver futuristic accents. We also couldn't get enough of the western elements, otherworldly floral decor and the futuristic displays.

LOS SURES, SCREENING AND COMMUNITY DISCUSSION
FRIDAY, DECEMBER 9TH, 2016
7PM - 10PM
South Williamsburg used to be quite a different neighborhood than it is today. Nicknamed "Los Sures" (The Southside) by the Puerto Rican and Dominican immigrants who called it home, this community was one of the poorest in New York and plagued by drugs and violence in the late 1970s and early 1980s.
In 1984, director Diego Echeverria and his crew visited Los Sures. Shooting on 16mm film, Echeverria filmed and documented five different stories over the course of 10 months. His resultant documentary, Los Sures, was largely inaccessible —that is, until now.
